Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which a service provider may receive it. Continued use of Calhoun County Criminal History indicates acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A query entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of the names or places submitted through those boxes.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If you email us, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Normal server and analytics records can capture technical details about a visit:

  • Device IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring website, when available
  • Date and time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Aggregated analytics support site operation and improvement. A browser can reject cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical data supports routine website functions.

  • Operate pages and maintain performance
  • Pass voluntary searches to the selected partner
  • Understand which resources visitors use
  • Diagnose errors and security issues
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Calhoun County Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Calhoun County Sheriff, local courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies supply the search boxes. A partner’s privacy policy, retention period, and sharing practices apply to information entered into its tool. Those rules are not controlled by this policy, so review the provider’s terms before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Calhoun County agencies, Michigan government portals, courts, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination’s privacy rules control. Advertising companies may also perform cross-site tracking on their own systems.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Search providers handling a query a visitor chooses to submit
  • Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
  • Advertising networks placing content on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the limited information collected. No website or network can guarantee perfect security, so these measures cannot eliminate every risk of unauthorized access.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect a minor’s personal information. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its removal.

Your Data Rights

Michigan law, including the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, MCL 445.901 et seq., may apply to particular data practices or transactions. Depending on the governing law and the information held, a visitor may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data on file
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete eligible information
  • Decline certain forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as services or legal duties change. A new version takes effect when it is posted here with an updated date.
